Center Stand

It's time to think about maintenance, hence the first question which comes to mind is either a paddock stand with bobbins or get the SW-Motech Center Stand made specifically for the Versys 1000.

Of course there is the huge cost difference to think about, but after doing some piratical trials and reading about it, I have decided to go with the SW-Motech Center Stand. Ordered mine today, just waiting for delivery before installation, and more photographs.

The issue with using the paddock stand with bobbins is, if you are sticking on with the stock / standard muffler, the bobbins will have a tendency to bite into your muffler chamber, if you accidentally hit a pot hole or going through a huge bump. Unless you opt only installing the bobbins when ever you need to use the paddock and removing them afterwards.

Givi Rear Case

Got myself  a 45 liter GIVI rear case for those long journey, to simply store stuff which isn't waterproof. Here are some pictures taken during the installation.

Point to note: the existing base plate on the Versys 1000, is made of plastic, so its not recommended that you mount other base plates on to it. I removed the original base plate and replace it with GIVI's mental plate instead.

Warning! if you planning to remove the original base plate, please be careful when remove the screws, they have been screwed in with lock tight solvent and it may just snap off. According to sources, snapping of the screws are common with the Versys 1000. Recommended to apply some WD40 before removing the screws.

Shields Up!

Yes, after pondering over the windshield topic for quite a while, decided to pay the local GIVI shop a visit and got the D4105ST windshield installed today. Was pleasantly surprised by the size of the windshield compared to the standard windshield came fitted with the bike. Here is a quick comparison of the both on the same height setting. The Givi windshield is much higher i would say   just shy of a foot higher and slightly wider.

Here is the another pic on the low height setting - its still relatively tall.
